Official Press Release
Life-long Baltimore County resident, Ric Metzgar, will hold ribbon cutting and announce candidacy for the 6th District House of Delegates
Essex, MD – March 8, 2010 Ric Metzgar, a private citizen of Essex, MD will formally announce that he will enter his bid for Delegate of the 6th District House of Delegates in the coming election this year from his election headquarters located at 531 Eastern Boulevard in Essex, MD 21221 at 6 p.m. Friday March 19. The 6th District consists of Dundalk, Edgemere, Essex and Rosedale.
Metzgar, a graduate of Kenwood High School and former student at Northwest Bible College, has maintained an active role in the south-eastern Baltimore County community through his various business ventures and participation in the production of widely attended public events held throughout the area.
Currently working as the General Manger for a local auto dealership in eastern Baltimore County, Metzgar was also the owner of the original Essex Diner for years, and holds a license as an ordained minister.
Metzgar, who considers himself a “man of the people,” has also served as the Chairman of the Essex Christmas Parade and Co-chair of the Essex Day Festival, as well as participated in other public events such as Dundalk Heritage Parade and Fair, Dundalk Concerts in the Park and the Rosedale Parade. Through his pastoral endeavors Metzgar founded Gateway Pastors and Churches Association and has served as a Ministry Leader and Sunday school Director for several area churches.
When recently asked what brought him to his decision to, again, run for public office during this time of political and economic strife, Metzgar replied, “Now more than ever, I am determined and committed to the people of Maryland because they deserve better.”
Metzgar’s platform is a personalized message to the people of Maryland based on a belief of responsible government. He stands for fiscal responsibility, not just in limiting taxation, but if elected he would introduce legislation to repeal the “special session” 20 percent tax increase. Metzgar also advocates for a cleaner, greener Maryland; a government that works for the people and supports leaders who hold themselves to the highest standard of representative government.
Citizens of the 6th district, including Dundalk, Rosedale, Edgemere and Essex are invited to meet Metzgar and discuss their concerns for the Southeast area with the candidate. Light refreshments will be provided.
